Bio
K.I.B (Kibrom Hailemariam), born in Ethiopia then relocated to Australia in
1997 at 10 years of Age. K.I.B has been through many barriers and issues
which he overcame to achieve his goals in life and be where he is today as
an artist. Facing many issues in the new culture when first introduced to
the Australia way of life, K.I.B fell more in love with the idea of using
music to express his feeling to a wider audience. Though the new
environment that surrounded K.I.B was very different from what he was used
to back in Africa, it is evident to see the support from his family in
particular his brother contributed to his view of life. Though his high
school years were filled drama, K.I.B states that this part of his life was
when he truly developed his passion for music. Events of his life where his
parents split up and other events, K.I.B believes gave him a greater
desires to use music as a tool. K.I.B has been recording music in the
studio for the past three years. What initially began as a hobby by
recording mixtapes has turned into a passion which portrays originality,
creativity and talent. K.I.B uses a mix of new school hip hop and lyrical
rap as tool to express his love for music. He spent the last couple years
performing and making appearances at clubs, events and gatherings in Perth
and Melbourne. K.i.B is currently working on his first LP "From a Weak
Foundation" which is an insight of his life experiences, both from his
motherland and his current homeland. K.I.B’s music is one with a lot of
meaning, His Video for “From A Weak Foundation” has been used on a WA
youth awareness CD/DVD and many other compilation CDs in the USA with some
songs like “Attention, Man, It’s a New Day” being chosen for song of
the day on some online music radios and on the line for synchronising in
film.
