Bio

LaMarr Re'nee began fulfilling her urge to sing at the early age of 5 at a Baptist Church choir in New York City. She was raised with the roots of music embedded in her soul from her mother's classic LP's and 45's of Sarah Vaughn, Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson up until Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan. These mothers of soul have influenced her 4 level vocal octave approach and range then and today. Growing up in the inner city of New York LaMarr Re'nee was quite different from her neighborhood friends and inner circle. While they preferred to play hop scotch or party at the teen clubs, she preferred to sit home and write music preferably love ballads and socially conscious music to strengthen her lyrical ability and vocal craft. At the age of 15 one of her high school mates encouraged her to audition for an up and coming girl group called Jabo't to gain her introduction into the music business. Jabo't was the stepping stone into the entertainment industry where she nurtured her performance skills. Through the years, not only had her vocal style developed, she was able to perform with her group at the some of the many legendary venues, such as the Village Gate, the Apollo, the infamous Beacon Theater, and Sweet Waters opening up for the great Phyllis Hyman. Aside from singing with her group, she majored in performing arts in high school starring as lead in several high school production roles as in Hair, South Pacific, and acting at local theaters as The Black Spectrum Theater, The Society Hills, and The Ashanti Theater Company. LaMarr Re'nee continued to hone her craft in both areas of the theater and voice. As the years went by she delivered consistent energetic performances with an extra flare and great smile, leaving a mark in their minds that these girls will be the next "hot "group. Jabo't was the drive and the dream that kept LaMarr Re'nee motivated in believing they all would make hit records. By the end of her teenage years the group disbanded as the music business became tough to breakthrough and sweet record label deals had gone sour. Her determination for success did not end with Jabo't. At that point she decided to audition for casting at Broadway shows and perform at various music scenes. Her recent venues were at the Sage Theater in Times Square, Club Europa in Brooklyn; Invite to perform at World Sickle Cell Day/United Nations, The Blvd in Manhattan and more to come.
