When it comes to music, people tend to think, feel, move, judge, and criticize about all type of genres. Along with that it also falls into your likes/dislikes. Funny thing is……. It also falls in your character, but that’s life. Hip-Hop has become a style of music that can’t be recreated or decreased. For many years hip-hop has been a target in the music industry. It was the last year of the eighties on March 13th 1989. Jamel F. Selby was born, during the 90’s era of music. Hip-Hop was his choice of music. As a child music always created a mood that kept him calm. Music made him into a hip-hop male artist. Having music in his heart, free-styling and song-writing became more than a hobby, it became him. Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia. He found his self in a predicament to succeed with music, because he has the gift. Growing up in East Savannah, it was a different life-style, nothing out the ordinary, just a typical black’s man life. Raised by a single parent and living in poverty, Jamel didn’t care how his up-bringing was; he just accepted life and moved forward. His mother is from New York City, Which Jamel calls his second home. Even though, he’s a Savannah native, people tend to think he’s from up north, because he has that accent. Becoming a star in the dirty south is a difficult task, especially if you have the rap name “Hip-Hop Mel”. That’s a title, because it has a lot of meanings. Just by those three words, it tells it all. Take a look at all the major hip-hop artists; all of them have one thing in common; and that is music. The only thing that makes Jamel different is the name. He sees his self as a hip-hop male artist, a male who loves hip-hop. On the artist aspect of music, it made him into the man he is today. It made him open his eyes and see, what type of person he really is. He might not be your favorite rapper. He's your motivational speaker. After he finished his demo “Only Time Will Tell” being an artist meant having fun and expressing yourself. After his twenty-first birthday, He started working on his first debut album entitled “Same-Difference” drop date: TBA (To Be Announced). Having music on his mind 24/7, jamel plans on making a change in the word hip-hop. It’s time for artists to start being artists.
