Brooklyn’s Prodigy: When you're not in the mood for cheesy rappers like Bow Wow or when you get done taking dance tips from Soulja boy, you need to settle down with (Flawless). He's fifteen with a fully loaded...twist. Yeah, he's hood but you have to listen to the music to witness that side of his life. Tyrique “(Flawless)” Carrington is Brooklyn’s Prodigy; a model of the average young kid today. Like many teens growing up in the city, he's lived through far too much in his early years. He was raised in a single parent home by his mother in East Flatbush. Similar to most teens, (Flawless) faced issues in his neighborhood like drugs and gang violence. When asked about the effects his neighborhood has had on him, he states “…the streets made me do wrong in the beginning because there was no one to keep me on track.” That is, until he found his love for rapping. (Flawless) raps about what he lives; the things he’s done in the past and what he is looking forward to in his future. This is real life; (Flawless) will never speak about something he feels he can’t or have not done. This is why his music is so compelling. There are not many young rappers from the streets of Brooklyn. It is okay to look up to the older rappers, just know that they have been there and done that but your boy (Flawless) is doing it. Producing and recording songs came as a savior to him. It keeps him focus but does not distract him from reality. At the end of the day, yes, (Flawless) is a rapper, but Tyrique is also a son, a friend and a student. He attends school which is truly an important factor in this day and age. While some young people may think it is okay not to get an education because they are going to be a rapper, they are selling themselves short. (Flawless) shows you that there is a way to do both. He shows society as a whole that aspiring to be a rapper is not a negative goal at all, especially when it is not determining how your life turns out.
