Bio
Unionati is a Super Group that is rewriting the rules of Hip Hop with their
aggressive, controversial and conscience style of music packed with an
energetic stage show; challenging critical social issues with thought
provoking lyrics. Unionati is made up 5 members, Picaso Pin'oy, T.O.D.,
Live 1-0, Scriila and Nena Bleu. The Brooklyn based, Unionati will be the
most feared rap group out today with the consciousness of Public enemy, the
movement of Wu-Tang and the big radio records of The Fugees – do to
thought provoking lyrics matched over even edgier production. It’s
because of their music that they turned the standard concept of a hip-hop
crew inside out. Instead of releasing one album after another, the idea is
to establish The U as a force with their debut album and then spin off into
as many side projects as possible.
Picaso Pin’oy used his home to start “Da Boom Room”. This allowed
MC’s to showcase their talents as well as keep Picaso’s lyrics sharp at
the same time. Da Boom Room was the precursor to the DVD craze that swept
the streets in early 2000. Picaso produced five video/mixtapes, Da Boom
Room: “Cribs in Da Hood” Volume I and II and the street certified
classic, Da boom Room: “Hood Videos” Volume III featuring Jay-Z,
Papoose and some of the best underground MC’s. After Da Boom Room Volume
IV and V, Picaso began to see a decline in the skills of the MCs he was
producing and decided to renter the arena with a new found perspective.
With his instinctive, intoxicating and commanding voice that paint pictures
of revolution in the minds of his listeners. He is also a very talented
song writer with incredible concepts that always brings the best out of the
music. His child hood friend T.O.D. made his name on the streets as a
fierce MC that was well connected. He knew that problems first hand in the
streets and knew he was the right person to address these problems so
they’re not glorified. He wrote songs about the struggle while giving
the insight to the conscience hustlers and gangsters. T.O.D. is verse for
verse one of the best lycrist in the game with his slow flow style of
attack and witty punch lines. T.O.D. and Picaso was in a group together in
the mid-90’s called Da Nation, who was produced by Easy Moe Bee for Bee
Mo Easy Entertainment. After the release of Easy Moe Bee’s album “Now
or Never: Odyssey 2000” on Profile records featuring songs “Sex, Money
and Drugs”, “Always be there for you” featuring Dave Morris. “Sh..
is going down” featuring Kurupt. The album also featured Snoop Dogg,
Busta Rhymes, Raekwon “The Chef” of Wu-Tang and Prodigy. Da Nation also
received accolades from “The Source” and “Rolling Stone” magazines
as well. After putting out their independent single “Big Dreamz” and
touring the east coast; the group disbanded in 2001 after sudden death of a
group member Leon “Cee Lo” Stansbury; first cousin to Salaam Remi
production credits for The Fugees and Nas. Picaso Pin’oy and T.O.D. has
shared bars, songs and performances with some of Hip Hop’s Greats. For
instance, freestyling on the “Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show” with
Jay-z and Big Daddy Kane. They also performed while The Roots played live
on 89.1 FM’; on “NY Live” with Sadat X, The Liks, The Beatnuts, and
SuperNatural. Picaso and T.O.D. has also performed with the late great
Notorious BIG and Big Pun, DMX, Styles P, Queen Pen and Dead Prez. After
releasing five DVD’s, Picaso dropped the critically acclaimed mix tape
“Thiz iz Hip Hop” in 2010 and received rave reviews from the streets.
With NYC Hip Hop record sales suffering and taking a back seat to the
southern scene, Picaso Pin'oy decided it was the right time for a new
movement; Unionati. Unionati is made up of a veteran group of MC’s Live
1-O mc and producer extraordinaire brings aggressive flows with beats bound
to have any club or party jumping. Live 1-O was formerly a member of 7-O
which disbanded after the death of his partner and cousin “Jigg”. After
dropping a few DVDs “Backwood Boys” and “Welcome to The Hut”, Live
1-0 started making beats. In 2010 he put out his digital solo album
“O”. Next he helped Picaso build a studio in Da Boom room and
Uniionati was born. Scrilla was a former co-worker of Picaso who he used to
share bars with during their lunch break. Scrilla was a natural that was
willing to learn the formula of song writing, concepts and cadence. The
6’8 gorilla, hook and bar killer will be a force to reckon with. The
final piece of the puzzle was Nena Bleu and after the 1st session Picaso,
finally knew he had found a star. Nena Bleu comes…Straight out of
Brooklyn, NY; the city that set the standard for innovative hip-hop. OG
actor-rapper Ice –T confirms that Nena Bleu is already snapping her way
to becoming a bona fide legend, he is a loyal fan and that’s not easy.
Nena Bleu feels that a quality rap artist defines themselves. The six- foot
mc is one of the first indie female artist to step out on her own with a
New Album. Also her socially conscious wordplay rates her among the best
females since Lauren Hill. While blazing her own trail in hip-hop circles,
Nena spits lyrical fire on “The Cipher”, her first single off of the
solo debut album “Subliminal Messages”. Early on in her career, she
released two singles on DJ Dummy’s label, Soul Source Music. She has
performed with OG rapper-actor Ice-T, Smoothe da Hustler, Chubb Rock, Dres
of Black Sheep and dance-hall artist Mikey Jarret. Remove all the obstacles
and the hype you will find a game changing Super Groups like Unionati.
