From the party anthem “Glass Up” to the smooth lyrics of “Close To
Me,” Idris aka IICE can both provide his audiences Hood anthems and
provide women with lyrics that allures. IICE is known for providing his
audience with strong lyrical content with the ability to produce radio
hits. IIce started rapping seriously his senior year in high school which
leads him to release his first maxi single entitled, “50,000 Richer.”
Through his continual battle to spread his music worldwide, IICE became a
member of Family Productions Entertainment where he released his debut
album “IICE AGE: The New Beginning.” With this album he produced songs
like “Lay that Nigga down” and “The Met,” which talked about the
place his was born and raised Columbia, South Carolina. IIce continues to
grow with his music and offers a new vibe to not only his local
surroundings but the world. The birth of the name IICE came from high
school students who name him IICE because he always wore flashy jewelry.
The only son of then a single mother, Idris is the younger of three sisters
and the older of one younger sister. Being the only son, he has learned
the role of a hard working man. His want to provide for his family has
built a hunger for success. His family loves and supports his journey and
they continue to support him in all he does.
From Columbia, to Charlotte, Anderson, to Atlanta, IIce had performed at
countless popular clubs. IICE rates his live performance as smooth but eye
catching. He has the ability to keep the attention of his audience and
offer lyrics that everyone can relate to. IICE has performed at the
“Quarterly Explosion” at Club Crush in Charlotte, NC. He has also
performed at “Steve Harvey After party” in Columbia, SC. He opened for
Remy Ma at club Nu Vibe April of 2007. IICE has made his mark with Radio
personality Venom from “100.1 The Beat” where he performed at her Car
Show and Wash Block Party also April of 2007. IICE also exhibits a need to
up lift the youth with his performance at Aids Awareness Conference in 2007
where not only performed but he spoke to the youth about accountability.
He also performed at the Boys and Girls Club at a program called “Strive
to Survive” this performance was also in 2007.
IICE is currently working on his new sophomore album entitled, “Two
Sides to a Story” which is set to release this year. This album is filled
with songs that demonstrate his growth in the music industry. He has widen
his demographics to an audience looking for club hits to those catchy
hooks that reach young ladies to hood anthems that make the fellas chant.
Not only does IIce write his on lyrics he also markets his music. He has
opened doors for his albums to be sold out of local stores where he has
often sold out. IIce defines successful as doing what you love with a
progression towards longevity. He is inspired by artist like LL Cool J
because LL has longevity in the music business. As time changes he moved
with the times and produced hits after hits. Russell Simmons is another
icon in the music business that has influences him. Russell overcame
negative people and doors being closed on him and pushes for Hip Hop as a
culture. He too has progressed and advanced in the Hip Hop industry by
venturing off into other sectors like apparels.
IIce goals are the same. His long term goal is longevity as a worker in
the music industry. He hopes to become an AR and eventfully the president
of his own label. With that power he wishes to give the opportunity for
music lover to express their art with the world.
