Born in West Memphis, Arkansas, and only 18 years
old, Flip always had her head in the spotlight.
She's known for her crunk southern hospitality and
being one of the youngest female artists to rise
up out the south. Born LaShun Harris, and raised
in Arkansas her whole life, shes made it clear
that "The State of Diamonds" has something to
prove in this industry. "I grew up in West Memphis
Arkansas, and I feel that were being overlooked
when it comes to having talent," she says. "Theres
so many artists out here thats hungry to get a
deal and its a constant grind that goes on and
thats what I'm doing now, GRINDING!" Flip says
with a smile. Rapping since the age of 12, Flip
tooked rappin seriously when her and her best
friend use to rap at school drawing big crowds.
"Yeah I remember, it was a lot of fun because me
and my friend had a lil' group and we use to rap
outside at school, or in the gym," she recalls.
"Thats when a lot of people and some of my friends
found out that I could rap." "It gave me a lot of
motivaton because everybody wanted me to rap a
verse I wrote or what not, and every since then
I've been wanting to become an artist," she says.
Flip has a crunk-style of music that gets
everybody in the streets and in the club rockin'.
She has a swag like no other female artist has her
age. "Yeah I would definitely say that I'm
different because I'm not like a "prissy-type" of
girl, I mean I'm more gutta and the way I rap I
would say its a different type of sound," she
says. From promoting to selling mixtapes to her
peers, Flip is destine to get a record deal and
signed to a label. "I'm motivated like never
before, I came out with an underground mixtape
just to let people hear me rap, and now I'm ready
to drop my 1st album titled,'New Kid On Da
Block'". "This album is about introducing the
world to me and my style of music, and the reason
why I chose this album title is because my sound
is different, I'm more southern but I still keep
that crunk vibe to it." "I'm letting people
everywhere know that I am the youngest crunkest
female rapper on the scene right now, I am the New
Kid On Da Block," Flip says.
When Flip isn't in the studio, or writing songs,
shes always...DANCING! Not only can she rap, but
she can dance as well. "Wow, I mean I'm from the
south, and the one thing to make you stand out is
knowing how to crank every new dance that hits the
scene!" "When I'm at school, I'm always full of
energy and I'm always dancing so people that know
me, they know that I'm always crankin' the latest
dances." "Who knows, maybe I'll come out with my
own dance song," smiles Flip. Flip is definitely
destine to shine seeing that she is from the State
of Diamonds!
